Hongrui Peng
M.S (Expected 2024), @Department of Geophysics, School of Geodesy and Geomatics, Wuhan University

Welcome! I am Hongrui Peng (彭宏睿), a graduate student majoring in Geophysics at Wuhan University. Currently, I am actively preparing to apply for Ph.D. programs. My research focuses on imaging of both the elastic and anelastic properties of Earth’s media using ambient noise. I’m also interested in understanding wave propagation, as well as the spatial distribution and temporal variation of noise sources.
During my academic journey at Wuhan University under the guidance of Dr. Jiangtao Li, I primarily focus on (a) developing an attenuation tomography method based on ambient noise interferometry, and (b) distinguishing between radom and non-radom noise in seismic records. I am dedicated to unraveling the physical narratives underlying geological structures and dynamic processes, which contribute to a deeper understanding of our wondrous planet.
In my leisure time, I enjoy hiking, reading books (especially history and Sci-Fi), and playing board games with friends. I was born and raised in NanChang City, JiangXi Province, China.
